SEPTEMBER DATES TO REMEMBER:

1. NO LESSONS -  MONDAY, SEPT. 6  - LABOR DAY

2. COMPOSITION WORK BEGINS

In September we will be beginning our work on compositions.

Last year we had some fabulous work done on our original compositions.  The students were rewarded with great scores and some were perfect scores.  It is a lot of arduous work but it really pays off in the end.

Students need to do their homework and have it ready for lesson each week.  We lose valuable lesson time when the homework is done at lesson.  We also lose the originality of the student’s work when it is done at the lesson.

Only students that have finished at least two levels of their lesson and theory books will be asked to participate.

We will need all compositions completed and ready to send to California before dismissal for the Christmas Holidays.

If you are not continuing with lessons, I must remind you that I require a 30 DAY NOTICE BEFORE TERMINATION.  This is a courtesy in two ways.  I need to help the student exit gracefully during that 30 days and it gives me 30 days to prepare the replacement student’s lesson plans and books.

ALL ABSENCES now require a 12-24 hour notice so that I can get someone to fill your spot.  I must point out that our agreement when starting lessons stated that I am not required to make up absences (except for two summer lessons).  All make ups are because I dislike gaps in my day and I will fill all time slots with a student just because I care and not that I am required to.
